Description
This homemade Cajun seasoning recipe is simple to make with everyday spices from your pantry. It’s mildly hot and will add a great kick to any dish. Perfect for making baked Cajun fries.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon white pepper
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt or to taste
- crushed red pepper to taste (optional for more heat if that’s your thing)
Instructions
- Stir all of the spices together until everything is well and evenly combined.
- Store in a jar with a lid or airtight container. Cajun seasoning blend can be stored for up to one year.
Notes
Dried Herbs: use only dried herbs and spices for this recipe. The flavor is more concentrated and allows to keep the unused cajun seasoning longer.
Heat: everyone’s taste is different. Some like it hot and some not so adjust to your own liking. If you want to kick it up a notch crushed red pepper is peferct. You can also add more cayenne.
Storage: this homemade cajun seasoning recipe is perfect for sitting on a shelf. It will keep for up to 3 years when stored in an airtight container or glass jar.Β
