This homemade Cajun seasoning recipe is simple to make with everyday spices from your pantry. It’s mildly hot and will add a great kick to any dish. Perfect for making baked Cajun fries.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons smoked paprika
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 2 teaspoons dried thyme
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt or to taste
  • crushed red pepper to taste (optional for more heat if that’s your thing)

Instructions

  1. Stir all of the spices together until everything is well and evenly combined.
  2. Store in a jar with a lid or airtight container. Cajun seasoning blend can be stored for up to one year.

Dried Herbs: use only dried herbs and spices for this recipe. The flavor is more concentrated and allows to keep the unused cajun seasoning longer.

Heat: everyone’s taste is different. Some like it hot and some not so adjust to your own liking. If you want to kick it up a notch crushed red pepper is peferct. You can also add more cayenne.

Storage: this homemade cajun seasoning recipe is perfect for sitting on a shelf. It will keep for up to 3 years when stored in an airtight container or glass jar.
