- Mix the flour and cocoa powder in a small saucepan and set aside.
- Stir together the milk and vanilla in a small mixing bowl and pour into the dry ingredients. Stir or whisk until the cocoa lumps are dissolved.
- Place the saucepan on the stove and cook over medium heat. Stir continuously until the chocolate sauce begins to thicken. When the mixture has reached a gravy-like consistency, stir in the maple syrup, remove from the heat and serve.
I would not recommend using things like almond meal or coconut flour.
