Start your day with this delicious Spinach Berry Smoothie! Packed full of vitamins and antioxidants, this smoothie recipe is easy, creamy, smooth, and you’ll never taste the spinach. Vegan and dairy-free!
Smoothies should never take the place of a good hearty breakfast. Chewing your food is always better than drinking it. It’s also much more satisfying. But, when you’re pressed for time a smoothie can be a good alternative to fuel your body and start the day.
That being said, it’s crucial you pay attention to what goes into your smoothie. Most smoothie recipes are no healthier than drinking a milkshake from the local dairy bar. But, not this one. It’s made with entirely fresh all-natural whole foods ingredients.
Contrary to popular belief green smoothies don’t suck. This wonderful combination of fresh spinach, berries, non-dairy milk, banana, and oats is so good. It’s creamy, smooth, surprisingly filling, and delicious! Even your kids will love it. And, you can’t taste the spinach. You’ll almost feel guilty drinking it. Yes, it’s that good!
So, get your greens and that extra boost of antioxidants with this amazing concoction. Ready? Let’s make it!

🧉 Ingredients You’ll Need
Here’s what you’ll need to make this delicious spinach berry smoothie.
- Fresh Spinach: Spinach is essentially tasteless in smoothies as opposed to kale which tends to be a bit more bitter. Fresh spinach is best, NOT FROZEN!
- Berries: I use a mixture of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Fresh or frozen berries will work.
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk: The extra depth of flavor the vanilla adds is so tasty. But, any unsweetened vegan milk or even water are good alternatives.
- Banana: Great for adding a bit of natural sweetness. And, since we’re not using yogurt or cream it makes the smoothie creamy.
- Rolled Oats: Great for adding extra fiber and protein.
How To Make This Spinach Berry Smoothie
This recipe is so incredibly simple but amazingly healthy.
- Place spinach and liquid in the blender first. Then add all the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth.
- Serve immediately.
Garnish with fresh fruit, shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or even non-dairy chocolate chips.
💭 Top Tips
- Blend the spinach and the liquid first until there are no big chunks of spinach.
- Add extra nutrients like chia seeds or ground flax.
- For the best results, a high-powered blender like a Vitamix works best. If you are using a regular blender add the ingredients in stages and blend.
- This is a great make-ahead recipe. Toss the smoothie ingredients into a Ziploc freezer bag and store them in the freezer until you’re ready to make. And, there’s no need for thawing. You just remove from the freezer, place the ingredients into a blender, and puree!

Delicious! I cheated and added some monk fruit for sweetness.

This is awesome! The perfect amount of sweetness. I made it with soy milk and added a few teaspoons of flax seeds. And what a beautiful color!

Been making this recipe for ages, add cinnamon and flax and frozen baby spinach. For a tropical taste, I add pineapple/mango instead of berries. I use the ninja blender and double the almond milk and add it last.

I have been making this smoothie for a long time. Same ingredients. I also add some ground hemp seed , a little Ceylon cinnamon and sometimes a test of cacao to make it have a little chocolate flavor.
