Finally! A rich, creamy, decadent dessert without all the guilt. Ready? Let’s do it!
How To Make Avocado Chocolate Pudding
The key to this wonderful chocolate avocado pudding is perfectly ripe avocados. If it’s not ripe enough it’ll be like blending rocks. If it’s too ripe then it won’t taste good. Be sure and check out this article to determine when an avocado is ready to use.
Once you get the perfect avocados you simply throw FIVE ingredients into a food processor and blend until it’s rich and creamy. That’s it! Delicious and healthy avocado chocolate pudding.
Just be sure you peel the avocado first.
I know, it seems like it’s too good to be true. But, isn’t it good to know some things are just good and easy? I think so.
Is Avocado Chocolate Pudding Healthy
Yes! Avocados contain nearly 20 essential vitamins and minerals. And, one of the most noteworthy is fiber. So, you’ll not only feel fuller faster but probably get a good poop out of it. Stellar!
But, keep in mind, avocados are still high in fat so this should not be something you have three times a day. Just sayin’…
I would also suggest you look at what Dr. Michael Greger has to say in this video as well concerning the benefits of eating avocados.
How Long Does Avocado Chocolate Pudding Keep
Honestly, I don’t know. It’s never lasted that long in my house. But, I can tell you it’s best when eaten right away. If you are having a dinner party or gathering you can make ahead and let it chill in the fridge for a couple of hours.
You can also freeze it, but I would recommend making fudge pops or chocolate popsicles.

Sounds rich & yummy! If I wanted to omit the maple syrup, how would I use dates instead? Thank you!
Make your dates paste first then add in place of the maple syrup. This is a good recipe for the past: https://eatplant-based.com/date-paste/
Absolutely delicious!

I made this with oat milk, and my vitamix held on to some of the pudding, so I added a dollop more of milk and made a small milkshake!
★★★★★
So good! I added coffee soy milk instead of unsweetened almond milk which gave a hint of coffee taste in the dessert. Delicious.

I made this recipe this evening, for Valentine’s Day, and we all agreed that it was scrumptious! Although your recipe states that it makes four servings, when I saw that it only contained 1/4 cup of almond milk, I decided to triple the almond milk, cocoa, and maple syrup. I used 1 large and 1 medium avocado, and 1.5 tsp. of vanilla, but left the salt as just a dash. Doubling the recipe would likely have been adequate, but we did eat it all after first consuming my delicious “veganized” beef and dumpling stew.
I will definitely be making this on the next “non-birthday cake type of” special occasion.

Can this recipe be made in a Magic Bullet? I don’t have a food processor….
Sure thing. As long as all the ingredients fit:)
Still shocked that the avocados are so perfect for this. I had 2 ripe avocados and one was just a day away from getting those dreaded brown spots. So I doubled the recipe and took out 1/2T of the maple syrup from the doubled 1/2C, and it’s sweet enough and delicious. I used soy milk and dark cocoa powder from Spice Jungle. It’s gooooooood! Thanks, Shane!

Must stir in 1/2 C dark chocolate chips before throwing in the refrigerator.

Thank you for sharing this recipe! I loved it! And it was easy to do and the perfect amount I needed.. I added 2 teaspoons of coconut sugar for a little extra sweetness.. Bravo!

This recipe along with other recipes call for Maple Syrup…..Can I use honey to replace where it calls for Maple Syrup? Unfortunately I’m allergic to maple syrup….
Thanks!
Yes, if that is your preference. I leave that up to the individual. But, it will work just as well as maply syrup.
Hi, I’m planning to try this tomorrow. Can you please tell me if flax milk or rice milk would be an ok substitute for the almond milk? Thanks!
You should have no problems:)
Oh wow this is heaven. If I could give it a ten I would. I have been trying to find a pudding recipe that matched our old dairy recipe and this one did it! My husband has not stopped raving about how good it was.
Thanks Shane for another amazing recipe!

Nancy, that is so great! Thanks for reaching out.
Can you substitute firm but soft banana for the avocado? Thank you for your great recipes.
★★★★★
With avocado, how long would this keep in the fridge?
Also, do you think date syrup would be a satisfactory replacement for the syrup?
Date syrup will work fine and I wouldn’t keep it in the fridge more than a couple days.
delicious!!! thanks for all the great fun to read recipes!

Very chocolately. This was amazing. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for making:)
Holy moly! Who would’ve thought that avocados could be even more amazing than they already are! I haven’t had pudding in years — thanks for this! Sooooo good!!
★★★★★
Thanks for the recipe, I would reduce the amount of cocoa next time as it has a bitter aftertaste. I use navitas cacao powder.
Oh my…..this is rich, creamy, and completely delicious! I’m now obsessed.

Me too:)
The recipe heading states that it makes 4servings but the nutritional facts says two servings. Just wondering which is correct? This recipe seems like a great dessert to share with my husband who doesn’t eat plant based but loves chocolate. I just don’t want to have twice the number of calories than I think I am eating.
Kathy, it’s 2 large servings or 4 small servings. The nutrition info is for 2 large servings.
Amazing! I’ve tried making a healthier pudding with chia seeds and my family hated it. This one we all loved! We will be making a double batch weekly. Thank you!
★★★★★
That’s so great to hear, Jen! Thank you for reaching out. Blessings.
Shane, you’ve done it again! A-MAZING! I haven’t been this excited about healthy eating in a while. It really excites me when my non-plant-based family members can’t get enough too!:) Really enjoying your fantastic recipes!
Wow, that’s awesome, Traci! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Have a great New Year!!!
Delicious isn’t even a great enough word for this dessert. How long would you say keeps in fridge?
★★★★★
Wow, thanks, Amanda! It should keep in air tight container for 24-48 hours.
Just made it-delish ! Thanks
Awesome, Christine! So glad you liked it!
My husband brought home 2 smaller to medium size avocados so decided to make a double batch. Being lazy I just doubled everything. It was fabulous. The only thing I might change would be to reduce the amount of maple syrup.
Will definitely make this again.
Pam
I include in my Choc Pudding veggies or fruit like berries or 1/2 banana.
I’m definitely going to try this recipe. My husband is not a chocolate lover and suggestions how to flavor this for him? Fruit or Carmel?
Thanks for all you do!
Hi, Elaine! I hope you do try it and enjoy it. I have added fruit as a topping (blueberries, strawberries, etc.) but have never tried replacing the chocolate with another flavoring. Not sure how that would work with the avocado. I would say, “Go for it!” Just don’t hold me responsible if it doesn’t turn out so well. LOL! Just kidding. Cooking is all about experimenting. Live life on the edge. Peace and feast.
Ok, so I finally got to try this dessert and all I can say is WOW!!! I never thought an avocado pudding could taste this delicious and chocolatey ?. Certainly ticks all the boxes for those serious chocolate cravings. My 11-year-old, after eating, was stunned to hear it had avocado in it haha. Definitely a new family favourite from now. I did use cacao powder instead of cocoa though, because it’s what I had. Thanks for sharing Shane
Thanks so much for responding and letting me know. It’s a favorite with my kids as well. So glad everyone enjoyed it! Blessings.
Excellent. This was a hit and very easy to make. This will be a regular player in my menu line-up as I have a huge sweet tooth and it’s nice to have something that tastes like the SAD version. No having to “get used” to the taste.

Thanks, Debbie! So glad you enjoyed and the feedback is much appreciated. Blessings.
