This homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe is so easy to make, fast, and requires just 5 ingredients. It’s warming, spicy, and perfect for all your pumpkin spice recipes.

Pumpkin spice in a jar

I love fall! And, the moment the first leaf starts to wither and fade I’m running for the pumpkin pie spice. The flavors are just so warm and comforting. Autumn inspires me to bake more than any other time of the year. And, this aromatic blend of spices is essential for fall baking.

Yes, you could use a store-bought brand of pumpkin spice. But, making your own costs less, it’s fresher, more versatile, and you can make as much or as little as you want. I’d be willing to bet you have all of the spices just sitting in your cabinet: ground cinnamon, ground ginger, ground allspice, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves. You just throw them together and DONE!

Ready? Let me show you this easy to make pumpkin pie spice recipe!

Ground cinnamon, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, and cloves on black slate.

Always be sure to have plenty of pumpkin spice on hand during the crisp autumn months. You’ll need it for all the delicious cakes, pies, muffins, and cookies you’re going to be making. It’s also great as an add-in for homemade granola.

What’s In Pumpkin Pie Spice?

First, there’s no pumpkin. It’s just a combination of these 5 simple spices. They are:

  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Ground Ginger
  • Ground Allspice
  • Ground Nutmeg
  • Ground Cloves

How To Make Pumpkin Spice?

All you have to do to create this cozy pumpkin spice recipe is…

  1. Combine, Mix, or Shake: Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl and whisk. You can also add the spices to a jar and shake.
  2. Store: Store in a jar or sealed container until you’re ready to use it.

How Long Will It Last? Spices generally stay fresh for about 4 years. But, keep in mind they will lose a bit of their effectiveness as time passes. So, be sure and store your spices in a cool, dark place, and in a tightly sealed container like these mini mason jars.

How To Use Pumpkin Pie Spice

These are some of my favorite fall recipes using this amazing pumpkin spice blend.

  • The Best Vegan Pumpkin Pie
  • Instant Pot Apple Butter
  • Vegan French Toast Casserole
  • Vegan Pumpkin Overnight Oats
  • Pumpkin Spice Almond Butter

Homemade pumpkin pie spice makes a great gift! I like to put it in mini mason jars and give them to friends and neighbors. And, it wouldn’t hurt to include a loaf of my Vegan Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread.

This is a nice blend. Word to the wise: make a new batch as soon as you use it up so you don’t find an empty jar when you are cooking! Just sayin’.😜

Coming backover a year later to add to my comment as I make this all the time and besides adding it to instant Mocha Cappuccino Coffee, also use stir it on Pineapple Gold Chunks and sprinkle on homemade waffles, toast, etc. Smells so good and receive many compliments on it and regarding how wonderful it smells in my kitchen. Love ❤️ this recipe.
