This easy fajita seasoning recipe is made using common spices, and it adds delicious flavor to your veggies. But, it’s also super versatile.
You can use this spice blend as a taco seasoning in my vegan taco meat, mix it in with brown rice along with a little lime juice, or liven up these delicious refried beans.
Ingredients

- paprika
- ground cumin
- oregano
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- cayenne pepper
- salt to taste
How To Make Homemade Fajita Seasoning Mix
- Combine chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt if using, in a small bowl. Whisk to combine.
- Store in an airtight container.
How Long Will Fajita Seasoning Last
You can store this spice blend in covered spice jars in a dry place or pantry for up to 6 months.
Recipe Tips and Notes
- Paprika: smoked or sweet paprika works. It really is about your taste preference.
- Cayenne Pepper: I have found that ½ teaspoon adds just the right amount of spice. But, you can adjust this to suit your taste.
- Salt: use sparingly and you can keep the sodium extremely low or simply eliminate it altogether.
How To Make Easy Veggie Fajitas
- Preheat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Once the pan is hot add 4 ounces of sliced mushrooms, ½ cup of sliced red onion, and 2 bell peppers, sliced.
- Pour in 2-3 tablespoons of veggie broth, add 2 tablespoons of the homemade fajita seasoning, and lightly toss everything. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the vegetables are soft.
- Serve in warm corn tortillas and top with my vegan tofu sour cream.
