Perfect Instant Pot Brown Rice is so easy to make, fluffy, and delicious. This pressure cooker rice recipe is hands-off and great for your weekly meal prep menu.
If I had to choose one appliance for the rest of my life it would, without a doubt, be my Instant Pot. We’ve had ours for almost 5 years and it is by far the most used appliance in the kitchen. And, now with the current pandemic hitting our country, we love it more than ever! It’s perfect for cooking pantry staple items.
So, if you’re asking me if you need one all I can is … YES, YES, YES! It saves you time, money, and will be one of your biggest assets for WFPB vegan cooking. Especially, pantry staple recipes.
One of my favorite pantry items to cook with my Instant Pot is rice. Because back in the day, I sucked at making rice on the stove. I never could make it fluffy and I always undercooked it or burned it. Not joking. Now, I’m a freaking rice genius and I owe it all to my precious pressure cooker.
This Perfect Instant Pot Brown Rice is a staple in our home and something we cook and eat at least 5 days out of the week. It’s cheap, healthy, keeps us full, super versatile, and requires no effort to make. And, it’s as hands-off as you can get!
Are you ready? Let’s make some rice.

Perfection. Thank you so much for all your wonderful recipes

Thank you for sharing your knowledge.. We however are very confused. The last we made brown rice, we set it for 10 minutes, and it came out like glue.😥😥
So before we read your post, we cooked it for 4 minutes, and we did an instant release.and it came out just perfect.
Why the disparity? We are using while grain brown rice.
Thanks fir solving this conundrum.
From an appreciative us😇😇
That’s interesting. I’ve been using an instant pot for years and after tons of researching, cooking tons of rice, this has been the fail safe each and every time. But, there are exceptions to the rules and I would say continue to do what you’re doing if it’s working. Thanks for reaching out!
Absolutely perfect brown rice! I’ve had a hard time getting it to come out right on the stovetop. Thank you for the best and easiest way to make it.

It is perfect! I used brown basmati. Thanks so much for a simple, healthy, and delicious recipe.

Thank you for the rice post! I make brown rice in my 3 qt Inst Pot every week, but I admit, still struggle to make perfect rice. Would the time and water be the same for the smaller I Pot?
Also, should I take the liner out after 10 min release?
Hi, Beth! I do believe it would be the same time. You can take the liner out, but I usually just leave it in if we intend on eating it all, which we usually do. 🙂
I’ve made your brown rice in the instant pot & it was 👌 perfect. Could I make it the same way with white jasmine rice? That’s all I have right now.
With white Jasmine rice use 1 cup of water to 1 cup of rice and cook for 4 minutes. Should be perfect.
Do you use any salt or seasoning? If so, do you add it in the IP or after?
I don’t add any to the pot. I always suggest people use salt and pepper to taste if not specified in the recipe.
I’m so excited to try this tonight. Do you think this recipe would work the same for Brown Basmati rice?
BTW…thank you for so many IP recipes. I’ve had mine for about 6 months and am thrilled with it. It makes cooking from scratch much more likely to happen at my house.
Martha
Yes, Martha! It should work just fine with it. So, glad you are enjoying the recipes. Blessings.
