How I roll with tofu every time
After years of pressing, coating, and testing every tofu trick out there, here’s where I’ve landed: texture makes or breaks it.
I always start by removing that excess water. If you skip that step, you're basically steaming tofu instead of transforming it.
After pressing the tofu, I cook it over high heat in the oven, air fryer, or a cast-iron pan on the stove. I live for the moment it’s golden brown and crispy on the edges.
Then comes the flavor. I don't baby tofu. A splash of rice vinegar, a drizzle of soy sauce, and a touch of maple syrup can completely wake it up. That simple combo turns a plain block of tofu into a flavorful, high-protein staple I can build an entire meal around.
That's how I roll with tofu. Every time.

Tips to make tofu irresistible
Experiment with textures: cubed tofu, slab tofu, scramble, or patty style. It’s all worth loving.
- Press tofu well: excess liquid kills crispiness.
- Cornstarch is your friend: little dusting = big crunch.
- Season boldly: Tofu loves flavor! So don't be shy with spices or sauces.
- Go for extra-firm: especially for baking and air frying.
