What do I need for vegan baking?

Here are a few things I always have on hand in my pantry I believe to be essential when it comes to making delicious plant-based desserts:
- Nuts and seeds: I always keep an assortment of raw nuts and seeds on hand. They’re great for topping desserts and making decadent pie crusts. My favorites are walnuts, hazelnuts, cashews, and almonds.
- Spices: Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves are excellent for elevating the flavor profile in many vegan dessert recipes. I prefer dried spices just because they’re readily accessible, last longer, and just easy.
- Dark Chocolate: I wouldn’t be caught dead in a house without dark chocolate. And, there’s no reason you shouldn’t have it in your home. Why? Well, it’s super easy to find vegan dark chocolate, it’s semi-healthy, and just so freaking good!
- Fresh Berries: I love keeping a variety of fresh berries in my fridge for breakfast and dessert. A few of my faves are strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
- Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder is unsweetened but adds deep chocolate flavor to desserts. But, it is important it is combined with a sweetener as it is very bitter on its own.
- Maple Syrup: This is my sweetenter of choice when it comes to making plant-based desserts. There are times when I need a dry sweetener but that is very rare.
