This Smoky Bacon Flavored Hummus hits all the main tastebud spots and will make you the party favorite. It’s sweet, salty, and savory with a hint of smoke. Low-fat, oil-free, easy to make, and absolutely delicious!
So, where did I get the inspiration for this amazing idea?
First of all, I agree with you. It is a pretty amazing idea. Second, and to answer your original question, the idea came from my Smoky Maple Tempeh Bacon. I thought, “If it works for tempeh, it’ll work with chickpeas.” It just seemed to make sense there should be a bacon flavored hummus.
Why? Because who doesn’t love something smoky, sweet and savory? It’s just that some of us don’t want to get it from a pig’s gut.
Problem solved!
And, how easy is it? Super easy! You never have to turn on an oven or stove top. You just throw all the ingredients into a food processor and watch the blade of fortune turn.
It’s time you stopped complaining about not being noticed. You can know how it feels to be a BOSS. “How?”, you ask.
The next time you attend a “get together” or work party, show up with this smoky bacon flavored hummus and watch what happens. Don’t be surprised if you get promoted or become the most popular person in the neighborhood.
Greatness doesn’t take years to achieve. It takes about TEN MINUTES with just a few ingredients.
By the way, I have other hummus recipes you should check out. There’s my Creamy Smooth Oil-Free Homemade Hummus and my Chocolate Peanut Butter Hummus.
Hey, if you do make this recipe I want to know. So, please leave a comment below with a star rating. And, be sure and share a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #shaneandsimple. I want to see your work.

Oh goodness gracious, this is to die for!!! I will be making this on a regular basis. Not that it will last that long, but, Shane, how long can this be stored in the fridge?

Ok, to be honest I’ve been giving this smoky bacon flavored hummus the side-eye for at least a year. Didn’t sound like something I’d like. Today I needed to make hummus and really wanted something new…so I tried it! It was SO SURPRISINGLY GOOD! Even my husband and son loved it! Keep up the great work Shane!! I recommend your website to everyone I meet in the WFPB community and even to those just dipping a toe in!

Thank you so much!
I can’t choose between this and the chocolate peanut butter hummus as to what is my fav! Love it. I use 1tsp of maple syrup and throw in a few more garlic cloves. Yummmm
★★★★★
Shane, this is a staple for sure !! Fabulous !!
Thank you!!! We love it around here, too:)
Add me to the list of adoring fans! Had to restrain myself from going face down into the food processor bowl and getting a close shave while gobbling up this delicious hummus!!
★★★★★
Don’t worry. I won’t judge:)
This is one of our absolute favorites. We make it often and double the recipe. The only thing we do different is add a little water.
★★★★★
We’re having to buy a much bigger food processor since we’re going to have to double or triple the recipe next time we make this.! My husband thinks this is so good, and that you must be a wizard. High five from Alabama.
★★★★★
So yummy! I ate it on my baked potato instead of sour cream and bacon bits. Delicious! I didn’t have any liquid smoke, so I omitted it, and used garlic powder because that is what I had on hand. Thanks!
★★★★★
Delicious 🙂 Having it for breakfast right now

Awesome!!!
Just made this and I’m currently having a bacon lettuce tomato sandwich!!!

hi
thanks, i added a little aquafaba instead of most and just used 1 tsp, worked a treat, super tasty, my new favourite, going to try the sweet one next 🙂
That’s awesome!!! Thanks for sharing your alternative. Love hearing these things.
if i skipped the tahini to lower the fat, what would be a good sub? 1 tbs of water?, it sounds awesome !
I would just leave it out altogether. I use the tahini to thicken it up and add an earthy flavor. But, it will work without it.
Thank for sharing your recipe. My husband loved it. We use it on sandwiches. My niece and her friend also loved it. I just used it in a” spinach salad inspired ” rice paper wrap. In place of bacon. You’re recipe will be used many times, thanks.
★★★★★
Bev, that’s awesome! We love it on sandwiches as well. Thanks so much for reaching out! Peace.
It was so delicious. I reduced the amount of garlic since my cooking guide chart says 1 clove equals one eighth teaspoon garlic powder. I also reduced the amount of liquid smoke . My friend, who is not vegan or vegetarian, thought it was delicious, too, and wanted the recipe. She thought her meat-loving husband would like it. Thank you so much for posting this great recipe.

Donna, that’s awesome! Thanks so much for sharing that:) It makes me smile.

Thank you, Sue! So pumped you enjoyed it. Check out my Chocolate Peanut Butter Hummus and No-Oil Hummus as well. Thanks again! Peace.
This is a fun switch from basic hummus, Shane. I bet you are right that it would be great in a sandwich (or a salad or whatever!)! I think next time, I will try less to no maple syrup. It was a tad too sweet for me. Love it overall tho.
Sound great, Carol! Way to make it your own.
This is amazing – our new favorite hummus. My family stood huddled over the bowl of the food processor and ate nearly all of it! Looking forward to trying more of your recipes.

When you said this was delicious – you weren’t kidding. I am thinking up all the ways I want to eat this besides just spooning it out of the bowl plain. Yum!!! Followed the recipe exactly and used fresh garlic. Going in the keep file for sure.
