Ingredients you’ll need
The best recipes are usually the easiest and cheapest and this recipe is no different. All you need are five simple ingredients to make this Spicy Peanut Butter Ramen Noodles recipe.
- natural peanut butter
- sriracha
- low-sodium soy sauce
- pure maple syrup
- ramen noodles (I like the Lotus brand millet and brown rice noodles)
See the recipe card below for exact amounts and detailed instructions.
How to make spicy peanut butter ramen noodles
You can have these delicious spicy peanut butter noodles on the table in no time. Once the prep is done you can be eating in five minutes!
While the noodles boil in a large pot, whisk the peanut butter, soy sauce, sriracha, and maple syrup together in a small bowl.
Drain the ramen, add it to a small bowl, and pour the peanut butter mixture over the ramen and stir to combine.
Hint: cook the ramen in low-sodium veggie broth instead of water if you want to add a little more flavor.
Substitutions
If you or someone you know struggles with food allergies or other issues here are a few of the most common substitutions to help:
- Gluten-free – use low-sodium tamari instead of soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free. Tamari is a “wheat-free” soy sauce.
- Soy-free – coconut aminos is a great option if you are avoiding soy. It’s also gluten-free and lower in sodium as well.
- Nut-free – sunflower seed butter or tahini are good alternatives if you have a nut allergy.
- Low-fat – this is a comfort food and should be enjoyed sparingly even though it is considered WFPB. If you want to lower the fat content simply cut back on the peanut butter or use peanut butter powder like PBfit.
- Sauce: if you don’t have sriracha you can use sweet chili garlic sauce, chili sauce, or Gochujang.

Spicy Peanut Butter Ramen Variations
You can make this recipe as simple or complex as you like. I’ve listed some of my favorite variations for this recipe:
- Noodles – if you don’t have ramen, no worries. Try using other alternatives like stir-fry rice noodles, soba noodles, or just regular whole wheat pasta like linguine or spaghetti. Keep in mind the cooking time will change.
- Tofu – grilled marinated tofu or baked tofu are both excellent additions for extra protein and heartiness to these noodles.
- Veggies – raw veggies like bell peppers, sliced carrots, and shredded Napa cabbage are great ways to add crunch and vibrance. I also love steamed broccoli and asparagus. But, my new favorite has to be these healthy air fryer mushrooms by Rosa at This Healthy Kitchen. O…M…G 🤯
- Toppings – chopped peanuts, sesame seeds, fresh cilantro, chopped green onions, and red peppers are just a few of my favorite toppings.
- Brightness – adding a splash of rice vinegar, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, or lime to the peanut butter mixture gives the sauce a bit of a tang and a bright depth of flavor.
No ramen? No problem. Check out my spicy Thai peanut spaghetti.
Storage
Once the Spicy Peanut Butter Ramen Noodles have cooled to room temperature, place the leftovers in an airtight container and store in the fridge for 2-3 days.
Reheat the ramen in the microwave or on the stovetop. You will need to add 2-3 tablespoons of some liquid like water or veggie broth. The peanut sauce will thicken as it sits in the refrigerator.
FAQ
You can but why? They suck and provide no healthy value at all. However, if you do choose to use these get rid of the spice packet…you don’t need it.
Easy. Leave out the sriracha. Problem solved.
Use a natural creamy peanut butter. The only ingredients should be peanuts and maybe a little salt. I like Smucker’s natural.

Leftovers? I am obsessed with these noodles! I use whole wheat spaghetti and top it with a sprinkle of red pepper flakes, chopped green onions, chopped peanuts, and raw broccoli chopped really small. Thank you for the delicious, easy recipe!

Hi, I wanted to make a couple meals for my breaks tomorrow and this looked fast & it was. I don’t usually eat ramen but I will be eating more! My grandkids eat it all the time but with the seasoning in the package. Your recipe is so much better. I didn’t have siracha so I used a maple hot sauce, it’s called The General’s Maple Mayhem and is produced in the U.S. by a veteran owned company. I love the stuff. It was perfect in my ramen. I used Teddie all natural smooth with flaxseed peanut butter. I like it because it only has three ingredients. I noticed other commenters ideas and will try the tofu and broccoli in it as well. Thanks Shane and the others for your ideas.

Love the recipes but really, really hate the amount of scrolling I have to do to actually get to the recipes and amounts for each ingredient. Why?!
Shane Martin
Hi, Christina! It’s part of the blogging system I’m afraid and the demands of google. And, ads are how I feed my family. That being said, you click the “Jump To Recipe” link at the top of each post and it will bypass all of the scrolling. Hope this helps.

Excellent! I will definitely be making this recipe again. I used 3 Tbsp of defatted peanut butter powder to reduce the fat content and added all of the suggested toppings to the sauce while cooking the noodles. I served the noodles alongside of steamed veggies. Shane you have done it again with very easy and tasty low-fat meals…
Shane Martin
Awesome, Ron! If you wouldn’t mind, be sure and give the recipe a “star” rating. It helps me with google and others to find the recipe. Thanks, shane!

What a fantastic recipe! The spicy peanut sauce hits every note I love in a noodle dish! I used PB2 instead of regular PB to cut down a bit on the fat, and doubled the sauce recipe. Served over buckwheat/rice ramen with steamed broccoli and marinated tofu. I actually cannot wait to make this again!!! Thank you!
