Easy homemade ketchup recipe made with simple ingredients and ready in 5 minutes. Perfect for your veggie burgers and fries so say goodbye to store-bought ketchup forever!
I am a sauce person! I want mayo and Thousand Island dressing for my veggie burger, ranch dressing for my buffalo cauliflower wings, and the legendary Mississippi comeback sauce for my onion rings.
Sauces add flavor and excitement and prevent boredom from overtaking your meals and snacks.
So, what about ketchup? Well, it’s an absolute must when it comes to french fries and other savory munchies. And, until now I had yet to come up with a recipe that just worked. But, everything has changed!
Crafting this homemade ketchup is a breeze – it’s effortlessly prepared, bursting with fresh and vibrant tomato flavor, and naturally sweetened with the richness of maple syrup. That’s right – no high fructose corn syrup!
The outcome? A meticulously balanced tomato ketchup that delights the palate with its harmonious blend of salty, sweet, and tangy.

How to make homemade ketchup
You won’t believe how easy it is to create one of your favorite condiments. No cooking. No saucepan. And, nothing to simmer.
- Place all of the ingredients into a bowl.
- Stir until everything is well combined and reaches the consistency you desire. You can also use an immersion blender if you wish, but you probably won’t need it.
- Enjoy with veggie burgers, french fries, carrot hot dogs, and anything else you desire.
Storage
You can store this homemade ketchup in a glass jar in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
Absolutely! Keep it in the freezer for up to 2 months. The best way to do this is to keep the ketchup in ice cube trays.
Ketchup recipe variations
Playing around with spices is a great way to create unique flavor blends for this recipe. A few of my favorites are:
- Hot: a dash of cayenne pepper to add a little kick
- Cinnamon & Clove: Yes, to the mind it’s baffling, but to the senses it’s amazing. Simply adding a little cinnamon and ground cloves creates a very unique and earthy essence. It’s great around the holidays.
Top Tips
Here are a few suggestions for making the best and easiest homemade ketchup.
- If you like your ketchup on the sweeter side add a little brown sugar.
- Soy sauce or Bragg’s Liquid Aminos are great additions if desire a more savory or salty ketchup.

This looks like a winner! I’m wondering if date syrup (or date paste) could be a substitute for the maple syrup? Worth a try, right?

I would try date syrup…the date paste makes me pause:)
